If you click here, chances are, you want to know my secret to growing long hair. I’ve had long hair pretty much my whole life! I did get my hair cut into a short bob after each of my pregnancies, regretted it and let it grow long shortly after. I’m now in my mid 40’s and I have no problem growing my hair healthy and long. I’ve been asked many questions lately on tips for growing long hair and how to keep it healthy. I’m sharing the secret strategies that work for me.

First of all, I love to keep my hair long because it’s so versatile. It makes me look younger and feminine. I can put it up in a ponytail when it’s hot or if I’m working out. I can let my hair down for a natural look, style it with beachy curls (my favourite style) for an ageless look, or make a fancy updo for special occasions.

Don’t get it cut
My first rule for growing long hair is not to get it cut in the first place. Leave the haircutting intervals far and few between. If you follow all the tips included in this post, you might not need haircuts very often anyway. I definitely don’t do the prescribed haircut every 6 weeks thing. In fact, I get my hair cut about twice a year to trim off the ends so my hair feels healthy. That’s what works for me.
Wash your hair less often
I was my hair about every 4 to 5 days only. In order to stay this long between hair washes, you need good quality shampoo and train your scalp not to produce so much oil. What really helped me make this jump from washing every other day to washing only every 4 to 5 days is Monat Intense Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. Yes, Monat products are expensive, and you should do your own research to see if it’s right for you. I personally love them, and since I use them as directed, it works extremely well for my hair. Since I use a little product and don’t wash my hair that often, the product lasts months on end for me.
Monat uses the MLM business model and that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But, if you want to see how to get these great products cheaper, you might want to find a market partner. If you don’t like the MLM model, you can find their products on Amazon.
Be Gentle When Styling Your Hair
When it comes to styling your hair, it’s important to use gentle techniques that won’t damage or break your strands. Avoid tugging and pulling on your hair when brushing and styling, as this can lead to breakage. Try using a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush designed for wet hair when you shampoo and opt for heat-free styles like braid-outs and twist-outs.
I sometimes do use heat to style my hair. On occasion, I dry my long hair using a hairdryer, I straighten it with a hair straightener and I also curl it with a 2-inch diameter curling iron for a long beach wave look. In order to keep my hair from damaging I use heat protection for my hair. Again, I’ve been using Monat products and they work extremely well for me, so I’m recommending them yet again. The two products I use are the Monat Blow Out Cream for hair drying and Thermal Protect Styling Shield when I want to curl my hair.
Protect Your Ends Will Help In Growing Long Hair
Here’s another trick for growing long hair, using a serum that will help protect your ends. Here’s another great one that I love to use, Monat Rejuvabeads split-end mender. Like magic, it makes my split ends disappear! By keeping split ends at bay, Rejuvabeds helps extend the time between haircuts.
Use The Right Supplements For Growing Long Hair
Growing your hair long also comes from the inside out! Fueling your body correctly will give your hair growth a boost. I’ve been using Sproos Grass Fed Collagen for over 2 months and lately, I’ve had many reacting to how long my hair has gotten lately, from mid-back to waist length! Crazy, I know!
I’ve been using this collagen for other reasons, like energy, but the added side effects are better hair and nails, and anti-ageing skin. I’ve also seen better skin elasticity and fewer wrinkles. It’s really a win/win/win.
Besides supplements, eating a healthy, balanced diet is essential for growing and maintaining strong, healthy hair. Incorporate protein-rich foods such as lean meats, eggs, nuts, and legumes into your diet, as they play an important role in hair growth and strength. Additionally, adding omega-3 fatty acids to your meals can give your hair the much-needed nourishment it needs. Fruits and vegetables are also essential for long locks since they contain minerals and vitamins that feed the follicles and scalp.

And finally, to recap the secrets to growing long hair; extend the time between hair trims, wash your hairless often, protect your hair from heat styling and spit ends and feed your body with the right nutrients with the use of collagen supplements to help grow healthy hair.
