January Tri Training Highlights: Embracing the Process
In the world of running, January taught me that the training is real, even if it feels slow. Progress is not always measured in speed but in the commitment to keep moving. No matter how challenging, each kilometre is a testament to our dedication. This month, I’ve committed to increasing my mileage and I delivered; from couch potato to 5 km none-stop runs!
With the freezing and snowy winter weather we had at the beginning of the month, I changed from outdoor runs to indoor jogs around any indoor track I could find! If an indoor track wasn’t convenient, I focused on building a stronger core, flexibility and improved mobility. Towards the end of the month, the weather was unseasonably warm and I was able to hit the pavement more often and experience a breakthrough in my runs by completing several 5 km runs at a decent pace, setting a great baseline on which to build.
When doing indoor workouts, I used this free resource: Nike Training Club. It’s great for finding the right yoga workout, or warm-up video for early morning movements or inspiration for a full body weight training session.
February Tri Training Forecast: Elevating the Game
As we turn the page to February, the forecast is all about intensified focus and strategic training. It’s time to set new goals, push beyond previous limits, and elevate the game. The foundation laid in January will serve as a platform for more significant achievements in the coming month.
Here are my February goals:
- Keep running 3 times a week
- Lower my average 5 km race pace, ideally under 7:00 min/km for this month
- Swim once a week (swimming is my weakest of the 3 disciplines)
- Keep working on flexibility, mobility and core
- Keep up with my focus on good nutrition
I invite you to join me on this journey. Whether you are training for your first triathlon, or perhaps a goal race of some kind, let’s amplify our efforts, inspire each other, and make strides toward a vibrant, active life. February is the month to turn aspirations into achievements and transform TriGreen Life’s dreams into reality.
