Ever get the feeling that your 40s are passing you by, very quickly? You’re busy working your 9:00 – 5:00 by day, and driving your kids from sports to sport by night? Well, grab a seat, dear readers, because I’m about to throw a curveball into the mix—one that involves more swim caps than spreadsheets and more running shoes than high heels.

Challenging Myself
As I stand on the precipice of my 48th year, I’ve decided it’s time to trade the busy daily routine of being a full-time working, hockey/soccer mom for the adrenaline rush. Picture this: a peri-menopausal woman, more familiar with hot flashes than triathlon heats, daring to redefine midlife. Why? Because the greatest adventures often begin with a single, seemingly crazy idea.
OK, maybe it’s not that crazy! I have a few triathlons under my belt. I did my first one as a way to celebrate turning 40 with my identical twin sister 8 years ago. At the time, I didn’t even know how to swim, I didn’t have a bike, and all I knew was running. But I’m also not the same person I was back then either. I’m now a mom of 2 younger boys, both with their extracurricular activities that I have to drive them around to. I’m also perimenopausal, which brings its slew of challenges, like weight gain, lower energy and heightened anxiety.
My Why!
It all started with an honest assessment of where I stood in terms of fitness and lifestyle—a journey that, for me, resembles a rollercoaster more than a steady climb. As a proud member of the fabulous 40s club, I found myself amid an unpredictable mix of hormones, responsibilities, and a not-so-ideal relationship with my body. Let’s face it; the idea of finding time to train for a triathlon seems as likely as finding a unicorn. Yet, somewhere amid daily chaos, a spark has been ignited—an urge to challenge the status quo, to prove that for me, age is merely a number, and that the best adventures often begin when you least expect them.
Enter midlife empowerment, a theme that resonates not only with me but with countless women navigating the uncharted waters of peri-menopause. This journey is more than just a physical endeavour; it’s a statement, a declaration that midlife isn’t a period of decline but a chapter of renewal and empowerment. It’s about embracing the changes, acknowledging the doubts, and discovering the resilience that comes with age. I’m not just taking on a triathlon; I’m challenging societal norms, proving that this phase of life is ripe with opportunities for growth and transformation and opening up the conversation on menopause.
So, dear readers, have you ever felt that gentle nudge, that whisper urging you to step out of your comfort zone? If you’re nodding along, especially if you’re in your 40s, you’re not alone. Let’s embark on this journey together, as I share my experience, I’ll invite you to share your stories, your victories, and even your stumbling blocks along with my own.
Introducing GreenTri Life
Now, let me introduce you to the heartbeat of this journey—the GreenTri Life. So, put on your imaginary tri-suits, dust off those sneakers, and join me on my #GreenTriLife that’s less about finding myself and more about creating the woman I want to become.
